Horizontal Percussion Quartet: electroacustic performance of visive percussion

"Oraritmos" is a further step forward in the "visual percussion" experiment and it stages a repertory for percussions, acoustic and electronic, played by. The most illuminated parts are the hands; the four musicians play original musical excerpts, especially conceived to underline the relationship between the sounds and the movements that produced them. Oraritmos base itself on the study of the gesture, meant to be a primitive moment, creator of the musical experience: if the sound, in all of its constitutive elements, is intrinsically "motus" sound wave, resounding vibration, acoustic frequency, passing of time- now the four musicians have the duty to explicit this symbiotic relationship between sight and hearing, making it become the structural element of the whole performance.

During the whole staging of what we can call "rhythm dramaturgy", the audience has to make out the plots and the resolutions of a repertory very close to the musical theatre and which presents itself as a real sound "rite". Investigating the ample possibilities given by the relationship between what we are listening to and what we are looking at, the Percussioni Dadadang Quartet set in motion the gear of a theatrical "machina" whose Deus expresses himself in assembling the sound levels on the virtual screen of the musicians superior limbs.

Do not wonder if, at the end of the show, you think of having listening to images and having seen music

Oraritmos can be performend in theatre, but also in other spaces, with special schenographic conditions. Designed and composed by Vittorio Panza.
